Terrible noise after normalizing in ver. 1.4.3
Just updated Amadeus today and experience this new problem: When trying to normalize wav files all I get is a lot of terrible noise!
Until this problem has been solved, I would like to go back to the previous version. How do I do that?

Even i ver. 1.4.1 all of a sudden!
Hmm... I found a version 1.4.1 and installed that instead, as there were never any problems with that. Bu now there is! Same terrible noise! How come? Are there any preferences files that I should delete or what could it be? Have a whole bunch of files to edit in a hurry - hope anyone can help!

I don't think I can be of much help. I can only suggest to check other files (older files that are ok) and try different Normalize settings.Hmm... Maybe the specifications of the wav files have changed? Bitrate etc.
Good luck.

Any possibility that you are normalizing to average rather than to peak?

Re: Even i ver. 1.4.1 all of a sudden!
Just guessing here (no current projects for me). Preferences may well be the problem if 1.4.1 used to work and now does not. What i like to do for fastest testing is create a fresh OS X user account, and try the operation in there. If it suddenly works, preference problems are a good bet. On a deadline, i’d be inclined to keep working in the test account, if that was working correctly. Eventually, i’d be heading back to my usual OS X user account and removing the existing preference file(s) (which i won’t list, as i have both Amadeus II and Pro and have gone through many versions of both without cleaning out old preferences, and i don’t want to mislead/confuse)mulepose wrote:Hmm... Tried this:
Uninstalled Amadeus with "AppDelete" so I presume (but I'm not sure of course) that all files, including the pref files are deleted. Installed again but same problem. I will try out your suggestions tomorrow. Here in Sweden time is 11 PM and my Mac is asleep and soon I will as well Thanks so far!
Updates on this matter:
Good morning! Now I tried some of your suggestions.
I created a test account but all programs from my own account is there and I reckon it won't help to just replace the installation from in here.
Then I found an original file, which I've normalized without any problems (in Amadeus) just a few weeks ago and tried to normalize it now. Same problem as described before.
Also I change from maximum sampling value to maximum RMS but same problem.
I have the app "Cool Edit 2000" for Windows, so I started up Parallels for Mac, started up this app and tried to normalize this file that I can't normalize with Amadeus Pro. Succes!
So the problems seems to be within Amadeus Pro - and maybe AppDelete wasn't able to remove all files, as the problem persist, even after deleting and installing version 1.4.1.
Hope that there will be a solution soon. Of course I can do all other edits first in Amadeus, then open the file i Cool Edit and normalize, save and again open in Amadeus and save as mp3, whick is the final output format. It's possible, but no desirable!

Problem solved!
With help from Martin, I discovered, that the 1.4.3 update changed my settings in the nomalizing section from % to dB and I wasn't aware of it. My ordinary settings in % are 100-120 - using that amount with dB will of course create tremendous distortion. So there was no buggs in 1.4.3 after all - besides that it changed my settings...

Mulepose (or anyone), this is OT but I was interested that your
ordinary Normalize settings are 100-120%. I use 98% because that is
about as high as I can go without clipping. Does the clipping that
you [probably] get at higher numbers not produce distorted audio?
Thanks. CP

Normalize settings above 100%
Some weeks ago, Mulepose referred to using 100-120% as ordinary
Normalize settings. I use 98% because that is about as high as I can
go without clipping. Does the clipping that one probably gets at
higher numbers not produce distorted audio? Thanks. CP

It inevitably will. Now all depends on how tolerant you are to it...Does the clipping that one probably gets at higher numbers not
produce distorted audio? Thanks. CP
