Recording 48Khz Digital Audio on recent Macs

Post by ozobken »

I'm having trouble transferring audio from DAT at 48kHz to my new Mac Pro. The Apple audio input changes back to 44.1kHz regardless of what I set it to - and therefore, the audio is not correct.

I used to use my MacBook Pro to do the same task, but I've since sold it. I tried two new Aluminium MacBooks as well with the same effect. Is this a bug that's crept in in recent Apple software or hardware, or is it just me?

I checked the digital audio output from my DAT deck (which I'm converting from Coax to Optical) via my Denon AV Amp and also via my Minidisc recorder and they both play it back fine.

Very Frustrating...

..as a followup - It works fine on my Mac Mini, but not on my 2009 Mac Pro or two Aluminium MacBooks I tested.

Does Apple have a hardware bug on the newer machines?

Hi Ken,

set it to - and therefore, the audio is not correct.
How did you test this? Have you tried opening the "Record to new file"
window, setting the quality to 48kHz, and then clicking the "adjust
hardware" button? Also, have you tried adjusting the hardware settings
in the "Audio / Midi setup" utility? Regards,

Martin

I hadn't - but I tried that now:

Clicking the Adjust button briefly fixed the issue, but then it went back to 44.1.

I tried that too - it made no difference. When I retried the recording on the Mac Mini, it just happily stayed at 48kHz.
