unwanted fade-in when saving selection as new file

Post by alansilv »

Started noticing this behavior intermittently with Amadeus Pro and am not sure how to prevent it. Editing interviews I get a section cleaned up, highlight it and use opt-cmd-s (from the Selection pull-down menu) to Save Selection As... a new .wav file. However, the new file has a long - approx 20-seconds - fade in rather than starting at full gain as it should. I did not have this happening until fairly recently - perhaps the last 2-3 months. I have reinstalled the program, eliminated all of the preference files and searched for a setting that I might have missed which could cause this (and why anyone would want it, i don't know). Anybody have a clue what's going on?

I think the version at <http://www.hairersoft.com/Downloads/AmadeusPro.zip
fixes this. It would happen if the track in question has a fade in
envelope at the beginning. Regards,

Martin

Martin,
In fact, I often do have a short fade-in envelope to smooth out the start of the file. That would explain why in only happened intermittently …because I don't always have to do that fade-in. I have downloaded the version you noted and will give it a try.
Thanks for the quick response.
Best,
Alan

OK, it is happening again with the new version; I get the long fade-in when I "Save Selection As..." if I've put a fade-in envelope at the start of the selection.
But something else: the time scale on the bottom of the waveform no longer reads out seconds. The minute figure increments higher, however the seconds display remains at 00 and the large running time display on top of the edit window also remains at 00. Any clue?

OK, I'll check. Which file format are you saving the files to?

FYI,
I am still getting that unwanted fade-in and the running time clock no longer indicates the running time or the total time. It just stays at 00:00:00 or increments the minutes, but no seconds. Also the time indicator below the waveform only shows the minutes, not the seconds or fractions. As you suggested, I have downloaded the latest version and re-installed, but still no luck. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Did you trash the prefs?

Chuck,

I did trash the prefs for the first re-install; but there have been several since this issue started happening. I'll take your suggestion and try that again. Thanks.

I haven't been able to reproduce this with the latest version. Would
you be able to send me a short file that allows to reproduce it? Thanks,

Martin

Martin,
Maybe everything is OK. I went thru the entire computer and wiped every file connected with APro; then I downloaded the latest version, installed and it seems to be working fine - no unexpected fades, running time incrementing just as expected. I'll keep a watch on it and if it happens again I'll send you the fils.

Thanks.

Alan
