Would anyone else like this feature added too?

Yes, please do!

That would be handy, but not essential to my workflow.

[REQ] Automatic Extension of Selection to Zero Crossings

Post by cargoplex »

Hey Martin, I think I've asked this before, but could you please implement a preference to activate the "Extend to Crossing" function by default? I need it so that when any selection is made, on mouse up the edges of the selection will automatically shift to the nearest zero crossing. Coming from Peak, I've never looked back, but this is the ONLY feature I miss. It really sucks to have to remember to hit opt+cmd+v after EVERY selection I crop or trim to ensure a clean edit. Otherwise, thanks for the great software! :)

There is no reason to use an arrow key to get there. Show the entire
wave (little icon in the top left corner), use the horizontal zoom to
give you the sort of resolution you want and then grab the window in the
whole sound trace and take it where you want. Often (almost all the
time for what I do) you can see exactly what you want to edit in the
total trace and plop the window right where you want it. Worst case,
you see the time pass by as you move the window. (note, you can also
resize the view window on the whole sound by grabbing the left and or
right boundary).

I realize the second question was to Steve, I would try to answer it,
but it wasn't clear what you wanted to do.

file of about an hour an 10 minutes in length, and wanted to make
an edit, very close to the end of it, and my only choice, was to skim
through it with my arrow keys, to that point, and then make my
selections. Like Steve, i'm a voiceover user as well, and would love
to see a feature like this put in. and a question to Steve, is there
any way in Amadeus, when playing a file, to see how long through it in
hours, minutes and seconds you are with Voiceover, and to get its
exact total length?

Hi Chuck
Some background info: Dan would love to be able to see the waveform, but being blind, he needs another way to do what he wants.

To Dan and Steve: I have tried to imagine what it would be like to operate Amadeus whithout visual feedback. I can't really. It filled me with respect for you guys.

gerards regards

The only way I've found to jump to a specific time is to bring up the
markers window and manually create a new one at the time point I want.
Then I can move to the marker and do whatever. Definitely a pain, but
at least doable.

HTH,

Yep that's right Gerard, I'm totally blind here, don't have any sight
at all to see the screen, so actually doing stuff with the wave form
itself is not going to work, for those that are totally blind, and
have no other choice but to use Amadeus with Voiceover. I'm not only
speaking for me, but others as well. Not totally sure, but I think
Steve, and I are more than likely the only voiceover users on this
list here, as I haven't seen anybody else post on using Amadeus in
conjunction with Voiceover. Having a dialog in which you could enter
the time in the file where you wanted to go, would greatly help us,
since using the waveform, would not be a practical solution.
