Needing a way to tell which track is selected

Post by ssawczyn »

OK, for those unaware, I'm a blind Amadeus Pro user accessing with the
VoiceOver screen reader. I love the fact that we can now toggle the
active track with the 'n' keyboard shortcut, however, there's no way
to tell which track is actually selected. I realize that the selected
track is visually denoted in the wave form, however, with VoiceOver,
we can't access any part of the form. I'd like to propose a few
solutions to this, however, am certainly open to any suggestions
anyone might have.
#1 Add a menu option somewhere to select a specific track i.e. another
pull-down under edit.
#2 Somewhere in the status (maybe at the playhead location) put the
number of the currently selected track. This number could be set to 0
when all tracks are selected.
#3 Add a radio button next to each track name which selects that track
-- either a radio button, or a checkbox.

#4 Have an option to play the currently selected track, i.e.
unselected tracks get muted. Although not perfect, at least one could
tell by playing which track is actually selected.

Of all these solutions, I think #2, or #3 are probably the best.
Certainly if folks have any other suggestions, I'd be willing to give
'em a try.

Thanks,

Steve
