Weird "static" noise when recording.

Post by abraxas »

When recording through an USB interface (I'm using NAD PP3 preamp but same problem is reported for other USB devices) an "static" noise appears. This can occur after 5, 10 or 20 minutes. The problem do not seem to be an Amadeus bug as it is also present when using Audacity.
Some postings states that it is the USB audio codec from Apple that is responsible for that since a lot of time (10.3. 9 ?).
The point is that I cannot use Amadeus any more because no recording can be terminated correctly.
Is Hairer Soft aware of this problem ? Possible to provide an alternative codec? For the time being I'm restricted to the use of a PC on which the problem do not appears !!!
Blame to Apple that let users with a problem for years !!
My Mac : iMac Intel 2 GHz, 2 Go RAM.

Yes ;-)

It isn't a matter of codec, it probably (but this is only an educated
guess) has more to do with Apple's USB driver. There isn't much that I
can do on my side (short of rewriting the USB driver of course, but
this would be really be shooting birds with cannons). However, there
seem to be many reports out there indicating that using a USB hub that
is externally powered helps. Regards,

Martin
