Delay on launch while external drive spins up?

I'm using the latest Amadeus, and have two external drives which I use for backup. The drives will spin down over time when they aren't used (and I don't use them a lot).

Problem: when launching Amadeus with the drives spun down, the app will lock up for ten seconds while spinning up the drives. Initially I though that this might have been from when my "Temp Files" was one of those external drives, but at the moment my internal drive is specifically set to be the source for temp files.

Is there any way I can prevent Amadeus from delaying while it spins up those drives?

Hi, could you please launch the Activity Monitor's "View -> Sample Process" function (having selected Amadeus Pro first) just before it does this and send me the report this creates? This would allow me to see what exactly causes the drives to spin up.

Sorry I haven't responded; the drives don't spin down for a while, and I only remember the problem when Amadeus freezes on start, which is too late to do the sample...

I just did a

Code: Select all

sudo pmset -a disksleep 1

to speed up the spin-down process, but even with the drives confirmed spun down Amadeus starts up nice and quickly, and doesn't spin the drives up. Perhaps Amadeus only checks the drives once every other launch or so?

I'll keep trying,

BTW, small bug: if you're playing an audio file with the "Loop playback" checkbox turned off, and you turn it on while the file is playing, it does NOT loop when it gets to the end. "Loop playback" seems to only matter at the moment when you start playback.
