strange console message

Post by mustbjones »

Martin,

I found this in my console log today:

5/22/08 8:53:20 AM Amadeus Pro[323] DebugAssert: Third Party Client: result == 0 Could not lock on a synchronization mutex.[../Aggregates/POSIXThreadAssistant/APW_PTA_Synchronizable.cpp:69]

5/22/08 8:53:20 AM Amadeus Pro[323] DebugAssert: Third Party Client: result == 0 Could not unlock on a synchronization mutex, should never happen![../Aggregates/POSIXThreadAssistant/APW_PTA_Synchronizable.cpp:89]

Does this mean anything?

Thanks,
MBJ

Given the wording of the console message ("should never happen!"),
this appears to be an audio-related bug in MacOS X (the file ../
Aggregates/POSIXThreadAssistant/APW_PTA_Synchronizable.cpp is a system
file unrelated to Amadeus Pro). A quick Google reveals that these
console messages seem to appear occasionally in various audio-related
applications (Skype, Cubase, TeamSpeex, etc). Regards,

Martin

How does a user report a potential "bug" to Apple?

http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Then choose the appropriate area. In this case, it appears it would be Mac OS X itself, so:

http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/

One of the pop-ups has an option for Bug Report. Choose that and fill out the rest of the information. The more accurately you can describe your system and your findings, the better. Do paste in the same Console log entries you posted here in this thread.
