On May 14-15, there is a special 18 hour radio broadcast that I would like to record. Although, I have never recorded anything longer than an hour, and I'm wondering if I can do this. Getting the audio to the Mac is not an issue, it's the recording/saving that I'm concerned about.
My setup is a new MacBook (black, 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM), OS 10.5.2, Amadeus Pro 1.3.
Would this work? Albeit theoretically:
In the Amadeus Sound Recorder
Quality:
- 44.1; 16 Bit; Mono
File:
- Save while recording (this would be to an external 100GB firewire hard drive, 7200rpm)
- AIFF
- Playthrough
I estimate that the file size is about 500 to 550 MB per hour. In which case the final file size would be 9 to 10 GB. Could my Mac even edit a file this size, if it worked? Of course, I would want to cut it into appropriate segments.

Recording 18 hours of radio broadcast?
AIFF files are limited to 2GB. You should either use the Amadeus- AIFF
format or SoundDesigner II.
