How can I easily split a file into multiple files?

I have a file of a local school concert which I recorded and would
like to break it up into individual mp3 tracks. I realize I can set
markers and use those markers to burn separate CD tracks, but I don't
see an easy way to split the file into individual files. According to
the manual, there is a way to edit the names of set markers, but I"m
not seeing how to do this either. Is there a way to take a file and
split it into multiple mp3 files? Ideally, I could name the markers
and have those names be the resulting file names.
