some love for martin!~

Post by clove23 »

Most people who come to the forum are generally complaining about some feature they don't have or some bug, which is fine. But..I wanted to say thanks a million to Martin for the stability your program exhibits in the field.

I have owned Peak since v.3 I guess, and recently spent money upgrading to v.6. Granted, Peak can do just about anything you can think of to manipulate 2 track audio, and it's great in it's own way. But I will tell you something..I can't use Peak to record a live band because it is prone to crashing. I work at a club on the weekends as FOH and the bands want 2 track mixes of their shows. I can't use Peak. It's slower, buggier, and unfortunately too unstable to record in a live setting. Amadeus Pro on the other hand, has been rock solid everytime, and at this point I have probably recorded at least 100 bands with NOT ONE CRASH OR LOCKUP!! Ever!! Peak crashed about 40 percent of the time half way thru the recording! No plugins active or any internet connections etc. Just Peak, Leopard on a Macbook..stock mini jack input..CRASH! Kinda hard to impress a band with.."Sorry my computer crapped out half way thru your set dude". I have not had a single glitch using Amadeus Pro. So, thank you so much Mr. Hairer for producing such a solid performer. I have already recommended you to several colleagues who have purchased licenses. They have all been very impressed. Thanks again!!

Kudos!

I don't want Martin to get too satisfied! ;-)

A suggestion/feature request. It would be nice if when one selected a
noise sound in the denoise section, if one could have an option to
attenuate the noise in the dialog box. Right now, those of us that do
this, copy the noise to another track, attenuate the noise and then
select it.

I realize that this isn't how Wiener filtering is supposed to work, but,
while the attenuation doesn't do as good a job in attenuating noise, it
creates fewer audio artifacts and gives a more listen-able sound.

(and yes, I am not sure I have ever had AII (or AP) crash except with
certain plugins (soundsoap VST plugins)

I think Amadeus Pro is an amazing program, but feature requests are part
of the game when developing software.

I have appreciated Martin's helpful attitude and good disposition.
For many queries, including my own, he would IMHO be justified in
saying RTFM. Instead, he simply and calmly explains (if someone else
has not already done so) where a feature is and/or how it works.
I use this app daily. It has greatly simplified and enhanced my
amateur-level music processing. Now if I could only burn a CD
directly from AP, instead of getting a perpetual "waiting for the
drive" message and having to split according to markers and burn in
Toast, life would be just about complete. :)
I realize that the fault may lie elsewhere than in Amadeus.

Thank,s and goodbye to soundforge

Post by tordini »

I'm now using Amadeus as a external audio editor in LE with success.
I've now completely moved from soundforge to Amadeus.
I really like this app more and more. :D
I like good looking and easy learning applications.
Thank's T

I must agree as well. I discovered Peak about the time we moved to OS X, because whatever I was using on OS 9 didn't make the jump. Peak was never a very stable app, and even with V4 it still crashes out occasionally. Worse yet, V5 introduced hardware copy protection and jacked up the price by an obscene amount. I was quite disturbed because I do a LOT of audio editing - but it's not a professional gig, and I can't afford to spend $700 for an application that's not bringing me any money. Peak was no longer an option, because when I move to an Intel-based Mac I'm not buying a new copy at that price. :(

I was about to resign myself to using Audacity (an OK app, and well supported considering it's free) when a friend recommended Amadeus. I have yet to find one thing Peak will do which Amadeus won't - with the exception of the pencil editing tool. And at a minute fraction of the price. I didn't even wait till the trial expired before buying it. I can't say that about very many programs.
