iPod-crash with files created by Amadeus Pro 1.2 on Leopard
Hi,
try the following procedure:
- open any .mp3-file in the lastest Amadeus Pro 1.2
- save the files as "Bookmarkable AAC - 128 kB/s" (for a small Leopard-Bug concerning this setting please read the PS below)
I tried this on two machines:
1. PowerBook G4 / Tiger / all the latest system updats
2. PowerMac G5 / Leopard / all the latest system updates
So now I have the two files "tiger.m4b" and "leopard.m4b".
Both files play just fine in the Quicktime Player and in iTunes.
BUT there is an annoying difference:
- "tiger.m4b" plays just fine on my old iPod-Shuffle, too
- "leopard.m4b" crashes the iPod every time (after it tries to play such a file I have to turn it off, because nothing else works anymore)
I tried this with different .mp3-files and this problem is reproducible.
Any idea what could cause this ?
Thanks,
Jan
PS: There is another small Leopard-Bug: 128 kB/s is the default-setting for "Bookmarkable AACs". But if you dont change this on every app-launch the result is a 192 kB/s-file.
So you have to change the setting to something else and then back to 128 kB/s to get the file-setting you want!

Just to let you know...
I tried the same procedure with Amadeus Pro 1.2.1 and the latest iTunes and Quicktime-updates from yesterday.
No changes at all ... the resulting .m4b-files still crash my iPod-Shuffle.
(The settings-bug is still present, too, btw.)
Would be great to get a fix or a workaround for this ...
Kind regards,
Jan

That's bizarre, I thought that I fixed that one.... Could you explain(The settings-bug is still present, too, btw.)
steps that allow to reproduce it? Regards,
Martin

I played around a bit more ... and you are right. The settings-bug seems to be fixed.Martin Hairer wrote:That's bizarre, I thought that I fixed that one....
But I had to delete the preference-files first. With my old pref-files the old behaviour was still in effect.
No changes though on the iPod-issue ...
Thanks,
Jan
