Audio won't output selected source

I've had this problem consistently for at least a year. Sometimes, Amadeus Pro won't output my selected device. For instance, I select my Sapphire 2i2, (it shows up on the list of available audio outputs) but the program continues to output the computers native speakers. Anyone else have this problem consistently?

Did you try changing the Output Device on the System Preferences (Sound) panel as well?
