Line noise (60 Hz and overtones)

Post by Hans »

I have a recording I've transcribed from a cassette made in 1992 (the only source available to me now) that has considerable line noise — very sharply (perhaps ±1 Hz) at 60 Hz and overtones.

Sampling the noise does remove it, but as best I can tell is too broad and removes sound outside the narrow range of the noise.

So my question(s) is (are) this (these): Is there a way using AP 2.1.7 to reduce the signal for a very specific range, say 59-61 Hz, and leave the rest untouched? Or is there even a specific line-noise filter?

I'd try the AUParametricEQ or even the 31 band Graphic EQ.  See if a narrow band EQ could do the trick. Jim Edgar
