Feature request: Software Audio Drivers for Piping Audio

Post by silentwave »

Dear Martin:

I routinely use Amadeus Pro every day that I use my computer.

I would like to record audio from other programs, which is one of my routine tasks. For example, I make something in GarageBand and play it back and want to record the played audio and edit it with Amadeus Pro. The GarageBand export functionality is insufficient, because it renders and inaccurate representation of the audio: different from its playback in GarageBand.

Apple does not allow for this simple situation of using a computer to record what is being played on the same computer. Microsoft Windows has such a feature, if I remember correctly, through a simple configuration of the Audio Settings in the Windows OS.

I have tried WireTap Studio for audio recording from other programs, but even its present updated audio driver from "Mac Audio" as a source introduces unpredictable artifacts in the recordings. I also looked at software by Rogue Amoeba, such as its Piezo and Audio Hijack programs. In the past, for Mac OS X 10.6.8, I have used SoundFlower, but its .kext does not install correctly (or perhaps function correctly) with newer OS X versions, where Apple is changing how it wants to allow people to work with audio and video on their computers.

What I would like to have is simply an extra audio output, similar to what SoundFlower does, but simply as such: no adjustments would need to be made in System Preferences > Sound, but in Amadeus Pro, an extra checkbox option in the sound's window would allow piping of audio through that driver, to allow recording of audio from other apps or from playback on the computer.

... since there is no current program to interpret streaming audio data as file data, or as a data stream like a network stream through a port.. (I might do this in the future.)

Yes I too would very much like to see this feature added to AmadeusPro.
Up until three days ago SoundFlower, which I have been using since forever with AmadeusPro, fulfilled this roll admirably. And then it just stopped working properly and took AmadeusPro with it some how! No audio output from Amadeus. Had to reinstall Amadeus to clear the problem.
My workaround now is to use Camtasia2 as it has a System Audio Capture plugin you can add to it if you need it. But its not an ideal workflow now.
So pleas can a System Audio Capture plugin be made for Amadeus Pro?

Rogue Amoeba just released Loopback which looks really solid.  http://rogueamoeba.com/loopback/

I've also used JackPilot, though it's less well documented.

A system audio capture feature would be way cool I think. Could such a thing be brought in as part of the input selections in the preferences window? That would I think be the most logical thing. Sent from my Mac, The Only computer with full accessibility for the blind built-in

I'm trying to record some stuff for my wife (on-line webinar that she wants to listen to repeatedly that isn't available as CD/MP3, etc.) and my mother-in-law who is looking for some music to help her sleep - oddly enough some of the stuff is available from Amazon but not the stuff she is after, very odd.

I don't see a way to change the audio out device in Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc. Does anyone have a solution?
I try to make sense sometimes
