Burned CD won\'t play

Post by CP Heaton »

Hello_
Somehow your initial problem and my questions have been spread over
several posts, so I hope you read here and will begin from before:

Just to get one thing out of the way: "Commercial" (meaning here:
non recordable) discs do have a higher reflectivity, so they are
more easily read by older players, automobile players, or by players
with failing light/optics/mechanics. However, I don't think that has
anything to do with your situation.

I also think this has nothing to do with Amadeus. But perhaps we
could narrow things a little more. I've noticed elsewhere your
preference settings. BTW, recheck all of your preference settings
for everything. (iTunes, Finder, etc.)

What happens now when you insert a "commercial" CD?
iTunes asks me if I would like to import the item into iTunes.
What happens now when you insert a blank CDR? It appears as a blank disc?
I am told that I have inserted a blank disc and am invited to choose
an action from the pop-up menu or ignore. If I pick "Open Finder"
the disc icon appears on the desktop.

And inserting a recorded disc by Amadeus does what? It appears as a
blank disc?
I am told that I inserted a blank disc and am invited to choose an
action from the pop-up menu or ignore.
What happens when you insert a disc recorded some time ago with Amadeus?
I am told that I inserted a blank disc etc.
Do you have a "stand alone" or car player? What happens with everything there?
In my car player, everything acts as it should.
And in any case, everything is perfect with your wife's computer?
Yes, everything perfect when an Amadeus disc is inserted into her iMac.

When I insert a data disc created by Toast, I get message "The disc
you inserted is not readable." Same data disc acts normally on wife's
iMac.

I am using same Verbatim discs I have used for a long time.
Re JEGG query in another msg whether OP verifies, Amadeus says it is
verifying so I assume so.

Thanks for help. I am going to take iMac to local MacGuy and get new
drive installed.
