"Burn to CD" problem

Post by CP Heaton »

I first reported this situation in 2007, and it has continued for
some years, through numerous versions of AP. When in the course of
normal events I go to Sound>Burn to CD, I invariably get a permanent
"Waiting for drive..." message. I have to Quit AP, Restart, Open
Recent..., and if I immediately try to burn to CD with no
intermediate moves, I get Ready to Burn option. But can't burn
another one. Have to go through same Quit, Restart, etc. procedure.

I feel fortunate to be able to burn at all. For a long time I was
unable, until somebody on here let me know that quitting and
restarting might work.

Suggestions for uneventful consistent burning would be appreciated. thanks.

Hello:
I've used AP since I've had a G3, now I have the very first Intel offered (that was 2006!) and run 10.6.8. I've not having any problems - but that doesn't help you.

The messages you are getting say "Waiting for Drive" and not "Waiting for Disc"?

Have you burned data CD's in the finder, and if so, has that gone smoothly? If you haven't done so, you might try burning two consecutive discs to see what happens.

Once you relaunch Amadeus and are able to burn a disc, do you make sure that AP has not left an alias (icon) for the disc you have ejected before trying to burn again?

Have you done a very thorough search for anything Amadeus related on your drive like preferances, etc. (perhaps using something like EasyFind) and deleted it? And if that doesn't work, doing the same thing and deleting the application as well? And doing a lot of maintenance in between (see below). Then reinstalling. (I don't recall Amadeus leaving much around on a drive, though - but using EasyFind is more straightforward and reliable than the search function. YMMV)

You've no doubt repaired permissions? And verified your drive?

Have you used something like Onyx to scour for caches of all kinds (even things like font caches) and reset audio units, etc.? Be sure to go through the non-automated options as well.

Sometimes things unrelated (and completely so) to the application cause problems, hence a very aggressive use of Onyx can help.

If you find a solution to your problem I would be interested in knowing what it was.

**And you do know to write Martin directly - not using a contact function on the forum - to get advice for this sort of thing?

Good luck, and again, let us know what you find.

"Burn to CD" problem

Hello

"Waiting for the drive" is the message. I have repaired permissions
& verified drive. No alias (icon) left over.

I will try other steps as and if I can. Thanks.
