In v2.07, metadata comments fail in batch and from iTunes
Hi,
I just upgraded to 2.07 and am working with metadata. On a quick test, I can't get the comments to work at all either in reading iTunes-set comments or in the Amadeus batch function.
More specific:
--if I set iTunes fields such as date, title, genre (a custom one), etc., for aif, then these all show up in versions that Amadeus reads and processes to FLAC and MP3. Comments do not show up at all and get lost.
--if I use Amadeus to write or process new metadata as a BATCH, all the Amadeus fields write correctly, except comments, which do not write at all. Comments are lost.
--if, however, I write comments in the comments field of an individual file in Amadeus (NOT BATCH), they are saved and re-appear when the file is opened in Amadeus.
It appears there's some sort of bug in the comments handling of Amadeus, both in reading iTunes generated ones and in making its own using the batch function.
Edit: three later additions:
-- the original file from iTunes is in aiff format; it has several words in the comments field in iTunes
-- this comments field isn't completely empty in Amadeus Pro: it shows a single zero, as: 0
-- when I enter a comment in Amadeus, save it, and open in iTunes, it does show there; then when I change it there, it now shows in Amadeus.
Puzzling; Amadeus seems to only show the '0' instead of the comments on first reading, not on subsequent ones.
I'll do further testing to see what happens with mp3s made in iTunes, and repeat the aiff testing.

Right. I jumped ship and got Jaikoz for that project, which works nicely in batch work and has some other capabilities. I've forgotten what exactly. But you might want to try it:deckeda wrote:still not fixed as of v2.1
Batch function ignores comments, at least for AIFF.
Gotta do each file one at a time.

Hi, what about the version at
http://www.hairersoft.com/Downloads/AmadeusPro.zip ?
I believe that this fixes the problem of AIFF metadata not always being read properly. Regards,
Martin
