vertical zoom changes w/ horizontal zoom

Post by slukejones »

I'm confused by how vertical zoom works in A-Pro v2.

If I zoom out to see a 20-minute podcast, the vertical zoom shows lots of headroom above and below the signal.

If I zoom in to see just a minute of podcast, the vertical zoom shows no headroom above or below the signal. This happens even though the vertical zoom is set at 1.0 all the way to the left.

This automatic amplitude-zoom is new to A-Pro 2 (IIRC) and I've found it very disorienting because I don't know if I need to apply some kind of amplification (normalize, amplify, ...) to make the recording loud enough.

You can see what I mean looking at these two screen shots:

Using Amadeus Pro Version 2.0.8 (1483)

By default, Amadeus Pro shows the *average* intensity of a signal over the time interval covered by one pixel. You can change this into the *peak* intensity (which is probably what you want) by changing the "Displays average levels" option in the advanced preferences. Regards,

Martin
