forced update?

Post by nonsequito »

I got a message that there was an update. I clicked download, and find that my old serial # doesn't work.

I don't think I need an update (for $60). How do I get my old version back, please.
Thanks,

nonsequito

Please have a look on the website or read the forum (yes, there's a search function):

By the way: The Upgrade is $39.99 instead of the full price of $59.99.

What's going on here? We have to update to v.2.0 of Amadeus Pro whether we want to or not??? It seems that way. I also got a message window about the new version. I was given the choice of either installing it now or installing it when I quit the program. Do I want it? Not necessarily if I have to pay another $39.99 for it. Come on now! Sounds like a good way to lose former customers.
I am quite happy to continue using my former version. I still have the image file. If ever there was a backwards way of doing things, this is it. I am not happy with this sort of treatment.

Me too - and H.ll NO!
I don't use Amadeus all that much, but I really like it - well untill now. I've been happy paying for it and I might even have considered paying for the upgrade as well, if I had been asked politely.
But I really, really resent being suckered into an upgrade, and just to spite you, I won't have it.
So there.

Cheers
Kurt

Hmm, well it seems I owe you half an apology. ''
Being a dedicated backup artiste it was no big deal to reinstall the old version and make the upgrade dialog appear again. It does indeed mention that the upgrade has to be paid for, however, when you're in the middle of something, all you see is blah blah blah, ya di ya di ya..download and install. Being accustomed to updates every other day that's just what you do then. What that button ought to say is "Buy now" Or maybe receiving a an email informing about the new version and the discounts available.

Cheers
Kurt

Yes, I know that there should have been a more explicit warning
(flashing red lights or something...). The problem of course is that
when I wrote the updating function, version 2.0 was the last thing on
my mind and I simply forgot to add any mechanism into it that would
allow to distinguish between a paid and a free upgrade...

I will definitely do so in one of the minor upgrade of version 2 so that,
if / when there is a version 3 sometime, there will be a clearer warning.
Regards,

Martin
