Hi Phil

You could convert each track to stereo and adjust left and right channel volumes. Very precise, be it not very intuitive.

I have a nice looking stereo plug in: Flux STTtool

Hi, In attempting to mix my first-ever multitrack file in Amadeus Pro, I
found myself unable to locate where to adjust the pan settings (where in the
stereophonic spectrum from left to right a given track would appear).

I did find the Playback selection options, where one can set a track as
Left, Right, Center, etc. (As best I can tell, those options expand as one
adds more tracks to a file.) Is this the closest thing to true pan settings
in Amadeus? If so I don't think it's going to be sufficient for the needs of
the project I'm working on, and I wonder if someone might recommend another
product that would allow me make precise pan settings. I would never abandon
Amadeus for the usual audio work that I do, but I do need some way to set
the tracks I'm working with at present just so.

Thanks very much,

Hi Gerald,

Thanks for your input on this. These are intriguing suggestions, although
I've been meeting with some frustration in applying them. For instance,
having split a mono track to stereo as per your suggestion, I've been unable
to find how to control the levels of the L and R channels separately. All I
see is the overall track level, which seems to lock L and R into the same
level as one another.

So, I'm hoping you, or someone else, can give me a hint on where I can gain
control over the L and R separately.

This product looks terrific, and quite possibly exactly what I need, but
it's not quite behaving as I expect it to, and yet I've been unable to find
any manual for it. The Flux site offers a PDF that ostensibly includes
manuals for all its products, but the STTools seems to have been developed
after that document was written, as I find no reference to the product in
there at all, let alone any instructions for it.

So, my question on this one is whether you might know of a manual available
for it anyplace else.

Thanks, as always, for any help with these matters!

To adjust only the left or right channel, select the channel and use Effects>Amplify.
My method for selecting one channel: click when the cursor displays a L or R and then press Cmd followed by Arrow right and Arrow left.

STTtool is meant to be a measurement tool. I have used it only sometimes to widen the stereo image. Can't find any manual either.

Have you looked at sites like kvraudio.com for pan or stereo placement plug ins?

When I press Cmd-A, both channels get selected, even when the cursor is in left or right only. Can I change this behaviour somewhere?

No problem Smile

Maybe adding a Pan slider would be a good idea. Next to the Volume slider. And maybe add a checkbox like "Show results in the Waveform". When checked, Volume and Pan adjustments would be reflected in the waveform height. The Pan slider would work more intuitively that way - and provide a cool effect.

Just some suggestions to keep you busy.
