Looping in Flash - can I eliminate a gap in my mp3?

Post by scormeny »

I am working on a royalty-free sound that I purchased online and want to loop as the background sound to a .swf that I'm putting online. I do not want to embed the sound in the .swf file -- I'm calling it from an xml document.

Are there any Amadeus Pro or Amadeus II tips and tricks to create a sound that will loop seamlessly? Whenever I set up a .wav or .mp3 file to be my background looping sound, no matter how good it sounds to me in an mp3 player, it has a sound gap when played through my .swf. I'd appreciate any advice, thanks so much!

Looping in Flash - can I eliminate a gap in my mp3?

Looping mp3 files is tricky. Lame has some "gapless" option that you
might be able to use from the command-line, but I am not sure how well
it works, and as far as I know it is not supported by every mp3
decoder. Looping (uncompressed) wave files should be no problem, so if
even these have a gap, then either the file doesn't loop properly (you
can make a nice loop by selecting the whole sound and using the
Effects -> Fading -> Loop Crossfade function in AP), or there is a
problem in how the loop is set up in Flash.

I have zero experience with Flash, so I wouldn't be of much help
there... Regards,

Martin
