Recording is being limited

Post by sarahmccrum »

My sound engineer is telling me that a recording I made on Amadeus has been limited to -5.9Db so it's distorted in some places. I can't find out how this could have happened. I supplied him with a WAV file and have not done anything to it before or after recording. Is there a way I can change this for my next recording?

Is it possible that it is built into the Mac OS?

Hi, was this a mono or a stereo recording? This sounds like one saturated channel and one silent channel that were downmixed to only one... Regards,

Martin

It was recorded in mono. It's a voice recording.

What should I do to avoid this?

You can try lowering the volume level of the microphone and / or the gain control of the sound input device
(if such a control is possible for your device). Regards,

Martin
