I have three poems, recorded at same time and under same conditions. I have normalized them all to 97%. One poem is slightly louder than the other two, and I would like for all to be perceived as the same. I can de-amplify the louder poem, by different percentages, and use my ear to decide when the three are at the same volume level. But is there a more exact way? For example, is there a waveform statistic that reflects the overall volume level? Thanks.

You could try normalizing to maximal RMS power or try to amplify so
everyone hasthe same average RMS power (waveform statistics)
