Not Recording from an internet streamed radio programme
v2.1 on 10.8.x
I cannot get Amadeus to connect to the classic fm (UK) stream; strangely I cannot get the CFM website to play by the "Listen Now" button either, and yet the competitor "Snowtape" plays and records to schedule.
Anyone got any suggestions?
TIA

Hi, what exact URL are you trying to connect to? It needs to be the URL of an actual Mp3 stream. Regards,
Martin

Martin:
Thank you for your response.
The URL "http://ukrp.musicradio.com/classicfm/live" plays instantly from the Classic fm URL in Safari under legacy OSX 10.6.8. As long as that stream has been initiated there, Amad 1.x will record it.
Under OSX10.8 & Am2.x I recorded a huge 1.7GB file but there was no sound in it that I could extract, no sound waves at all. playback took place with no noise. The sound settings were USB display for both input & output at both Amad & system level.
First I tried dragging the Classic fm station from the iTunes streams to favourites; that didn't work; files were created but there was no sound in them.
Then I copied the URL (above) from the website. When then "test-playing", Amad put up a message that it was trying to connect to a stream, then that it was connecting, both times inviting me to "cancel" with no other option to do anything else with Amad until I had so done. A file was created but there was no noise in it.
As stated earlier, I cannot work out why no sound comes thru' to Amad, nor onwards from it, and why the above URL will no longer play sound from Safari, despite the button seemingly stopping & starting.
Could the presence of Snowtape have anything to do with the situation?
Regards,
Steffiekitch

Hi, the URL you gave is *not* a direct URL to an Mp3 stream. I checked on classic FM's website, and they do not seem to give out such a URL.
As a consequence, the only way of recording their stream is to use a third-party software like the free Soundflower <http://cycling74.com/soundflower-landing-page/> to route the output of Safari into Amadeus Pro.
I am not sure how you recorded it using version 1.x, but I suspect that you might simply have been recording the output of your Mac's speakers back through the integrated microphone. I wouldn't recommend this since it will result in very substantial quality loss. Regards,
Martin
