midi file import
Hi all
I've used Amadeus for a few years now for all sorts of little editing jobs but especially good for converting midi files to mp3 or whatever.
I thought it would be useful to upgrade to Pro for several reasons and also take advantage of the batch feature. Then I found that Pro will not import midi files!
Is there a way around this?

Midifile Import
Hi Desmond22,
your problem is based on the new Quicktime Version X. I think Amadeus 2 use the Quicktime X core.
But when you try Amadeus 1.5.5 and you have Quicktime 7 installed on your Mac (only with Snow Leopard or 10.5.x) then you can import midifiles again.

Hi Dude
Thanks for that.
I guess Quicktime X comes in with the latest iTunes because I am on Snow Leopard (don't trust Lion yet!). I did try my old Amadeus again and it certainly works still.
The snag is that there is no batch feature on there so it's back to doing midi files one at a time.
Wonder if there is going to be a fix for this in Pro 2?

Not sure what you mean here: version 1.5.5 has pretty much the same batch processing features as version 2.The snag is that there is no batch feature on there so it's back to doing midi files one at a time.

Martin

Quicktime X
Hi Desmond22,
Quicktime X is an important part of Snow Leopard. If you need the "old" feature of Quicktime MIDI file import, you have to install Quicktime 7 from the system DVD (Snow Leopard DVD). Only then it can work, since Apple has left out this feature in Quicktime X.

The fact that the old QuickTime 7 *application* doesn't come pre-installed is irrelevant here, since the application and the actual QuickTime libraries are two completely independent things. As far as I know (I haven't tested it though), the midi import feature of Amadeus Pro 1.5.5 that is based on the old QuickTime even works fine on a clean Lion install. The problem here is that a 64-bit binary simply cannot call the old QuickTime functions. Regards,Quicktime X is an important part of Snow Leopard.
