ALAC equivalence of "save as" formats?
AmadeusPro's menu "Save as..." lists
AAC ADTS
Apple CAF file
MPEG-4 Audio
Apple MPEG-4 Audio
Bookmarkable AAC
Which, if any, of these is equivalent to Apple Lossless Audio Codec?
Sorry for this simple question, but I'm no audio engineer
Thanks

Both CAF and "Apple MPEG-4 Audio" can be used with the "Apple Lossless"AmadeusPro's menu "Save as..." lists

codec. Both can however also be used with other codecs, so you will have to
select "Apple Lossless" in the Settings dialog. Regards,

That's because "Apple Lossless" is not a file format....Well, see, there is no "Apple Lossless" entry in the save as menu.

The size won't be much different between a CAF and AIFF file if you use theI believe it's caf files. they are huge! but if you really want lasless go aiff.
same codec. File sizes depend only on the codec (the way in which audio data
is represented in the file) and very little on the file format itself (various headers,
additional information, etc). Regards,

What Martin [almost] said is that it helps to think like an engineer here and possess prior knowledge. Or pretend you're one like I did, and select "Apple MPEG-4 Audio" and then from the resulting dialog box you'll see an Options button.
Click the button and Apple Lossless will be one of the choices.
The reason for all of this is because Apple Lossless is a flavor or MP4 but as Martin says, isn't a file format per se.
