Adding contents to an existing project

Post by Gerard Bik »

Clever workaround, Thomas.
Pasting inserts the new sound at the insertion point - or - when a selection is present the new sound will replace the selection.
Does it work differently with you?

Gerard

Hi!

I ran into trouble this evening when I needed to add something from another file to an existing project in Amadeus. I tried "paste" but It replaced what was at the Insertion point. Is there a way to paste content into an existing project in Amadeus?
I fixed my issue by splitting the recording into three parts. One for the first segment before the content I need to add. The second for the content itself. And the third to end the file. I know this sounds as a seriously desperate solution but I had to finish this project today. But I hope some of you have better suggestions than doing this, since a huge project with lots of pasting and copying of material could be extremely hard to handle.

Best regards
Thomas

It doesn't do that for me. I just tried it and it pasted right where I
had the selection point. The documentation I checked does not give the
behavior that you see as even an option.

As a side point, you may want to make sure the selection is at a zero
crossing and that selection pasted in also is at a zero at both ends.
Probably the best sound/editing would be done as you have done by
splitting into 3 pieces and having each in a separate track and use the
envelope tool to smoothly go between them to avoid nasty transients. If
you have multiple inserts you need to do, you could then flatten this
combination to a new file and then go on to the next place to insert.
