Amadeus not able to read own files now

Post by toddk »

I'm running Amadeus Pro v 1.5.1 (791) on a 1.8 Ghz PPC G5 running 10.4.11.

I've been using AP for years without issues but just recently (prior to downloading 1.5.1, I believe) Amadeus can't open files it created.

Example- Download 2.2 hour recording in WAV format from Memory Stick, opens in AP, do some cutting & add some markers (which now work again, Thank You!), save file by 'Save as' to half full 500 Gb external USB drive in AIFF format, attempt to open next day- AP says "This type of audio file is not supported on your machine".

Think the USB drive going goofy?

Thanks for any help,

Todd

1. Can you reproduce this consistently?
2. If yes, does this only happen when saving to the external USB drive or also to the internal one?
3. Do the "bad" files play in QuickTime?

Regards,

Martin

Martin,

Thanks for responding. And so quick.

I think the failure to open is very repeatable.
Haven't tried saving to any other drive. Will try tonight.
Nor have I tried QuickTime. Will try tonight.

Thanks,

Todd

Martin,

The problem appears to be confined to larger files (happens with 983MB file, doesn't happen with 80MB files) saved to one particular drive.

Very repeatable with the larger file although the read process stops at different times each attempt.

QuickTime seems to read the same file on the same drive just fine but I haven't listened to the entire file. It's certainly possible there's a bad area within it.

But most importantly, the problem doesn't happen on the internal drive.

So I think it's the drive.

Thanks for your time,

Todd
