Measure Playback Volume

Measure Playback Volume
Hi
I have a vocal track (front) and music (back). I can reduce music track playback volume and flatten to make CD - sounds good.
My question - how to measure the reduced playback volume on the music track so I can duplicate it next time. The waveform stats appear to be the same on the music track at both full playback volume and reduced volume.
I have used the "new Inspector" AU plugin by RNDigital Labs and it shows same RMS readings for both full and reduced volume.
I have tried right click on the volume slider but see no dB reading.
Many thanks,
Bill Munden

Hi Bill,
I apologize if I have misunderstood your conundrum, but it seems like you could solve the problem by using the Effects > Amplify... function to reduce the playback volume of your music track, rather than fiddling with the volume slider. It's not quite as immediate as the volume slider, but it will let you input precise percentages or decibel values by which to alter the track's level.
Cheers,
Tristan

The advantage of the "blue line" is that it is "non-destructive" -- it
doesn't change the data (but you can make it permanent by flattening to
a new file).

Many thanks - that will work.
Also, a friend suggested using the "playback envelope blue line" within the window.
I will try both ways - should get same result.
Thanks
Bill
