Tones while editing

Post by relentlesscactus »

I just went from 10.3.9 to 10.5.5 and am trying Pro.

I don't know if it's apple or hairsoft, but while I'm using the repair center (maybe other things, don't know yet) there are tones when the music stops after playing a selection. It's like a soft "woosh woosh woosh" and then tones that makes it sound like I'm taking a hearing test. It's really distracting, and I'm hoping it's not changing the file.

Anyone else getting this or can it be explained or eliminated?

Are you using a MacBook Pro?
If yes, this is a hardware bug. In other words, from what I have found on the web, a hardware design flaw "featured" at least in the late 2007 and early 2008 models. It's not said that replacing the logic board will fix it, but you can try it if you still have warranty.

Workarounds:

• Use a 3rd party audio output (USB or preferably FireWire)

• Since the beeps and noises are independent of the output volume level, plug your Mac's line output at FULL volume into an external amplifier and use its phones output for monitoring.
