This is a GREAT program

Post by rpitcairn »

I want to say what a pleasure it is to use this program. I was struggling along with Peal lite and going from frustration to frustration. I am inexperienced, just editing some recorded lectures I gave. But switching over to AP was a great move. Much easier to use and much more intuitive I think.
A couple of questions.
1. Is there a way to move along a track like with a hand tool? I tried "page up" and "page down" but no effect.
2. When running a batch of files and when I selected some sound effects like Soundsoap and an Apple HiPass, the windows for these came open and I selected the presets I wanted. Should I then click "done" and let the window close? I was unsure.

Thanks,
Richard

1. The way I do it is to show the entire track at the top (show
whole sound on view menu). The little yellow box will show where you
are looking. You can grab and move the box to where you want it. You
can also expand and contract the box to see different amounts.

2. When I do it, I get the settings with buttons of preview, cancel
and apply. You can preview it and then apply. Often if you are doing a
plugin that may be slow, select a region, try it and see how you like
it, undo it and then select the entire track.

In addition
3. If you don't know what something does, just try it. If you don't
save the file, you can always reload or just do undo.

4. For lectures (or any voice stuff) I generally normalize to full
scale and then use compression. I use mdadynamics myself, only because
when I started with amadeus, au units didn't exist and if something
works fairly well, I stay with it. I am sure the Apple version works fine.
