Seems to work fine for me. Have you tried moving the Amadeus Pro
preferences file (in Library/Preferences) to the trash? Maybe there's
something wrong there... Also, is there some error message appearing
in the console? Regards,

Martin

I completely uninstalled Amadeus Pro 1.2 (plist, pref, application support folders) then reinstalled and re-registered it with the same results. Unistalled it again and then installed 1.1.1 and it worked fine.

Strange... What type of machine are you using? Also, have you tried
using QuickTime for opening Mp3 files? To do this, type

defaults write com.HairerSoft.AmadeusPro HSReadMp3WithQuickTime 1

in the Terminal. Regards,

A G4 Dual 867 running Tiger 10.4.11. I'll get back to you after reinstalling 1.2 and running the terminal command.

Nov 17 00:34:39 power-mac-g4 crashdump[360]: crash report written

Bad :-( Could you send me the crash report for mpg123 that should be
in your Library/Logs/CrashReporter folder? Also, the terminal command
I gave you will cause Amadeus Pro not to use mpg123, so this should
fix the problem. Regards,

Martin

Hi all. Just read this thread and it's the same symptoms on my Mac. I applied the <defaults> to Terminal and that did seem to fix everything. Thanks!

Same thing here: G4 iBook running 10.4.9. APro 1.2 refused to open MP3s; made the entry in the Terminal as instructed above, now OK.

Amadeus Pro 1.2 doesn't open mp3 files

Post by Martin Hairer »

Mystery solved...

The version of Amadeus Pro 1.2 that was put on the web on the 16th of
November contained a copy of the program mpg123 (the utility used to
open Mp3 files) compiled for MacOS 10.5. Unfortunately, it turned out
that this copy does not run under MacOS 10.4. I now reverted mpg123 to
the copy that was used in previous versions of Amadeus Pro. This
should fix the problems that some of you encountered. The fixed
version 1.2 can be downloaded from

<http://www.hairersoft.com/AmadeusPro/Am ... nload.html>

For those of you running MacOS 10.5, no action is needed. For those
still on MacOS 10.4 and who updated to 1.2 before the 17th of November
14:00GMT, I recommend that you download Amadeus Pro again from the
above link. I am of course awfully sorry for the inconvenience... Best
regards,

Martin

After downloading the revised version, is it necessary to reverse the Terminal command given above? - and if so what should the entry be?

Same command...just change the 1 at the end to a 0 (Zero).

If you don't change it back, it's not a big deal, it's just that
QuickTime will not read mp2 files...

mp3 not opening again

Post by Gerard Bik »

Funny thing happend the other day. The fixed version of APro I downloaded a month ago opened mp3's again. But somehow this reverted. I could not open mp3's anymore. Amadeus was doing something invisibly and crashed after some time.

Switching to "Quicktime import" in the Terminal fixed this.
But I'm still puzzled.
