reverbs & feed-backs in original recordings

Post by YaleDog »

I am wondering if somebody knows this:
Is it at all possible to eliminate a huge and awful feedback on a very old recording I am trying to save (.au file). The mic of this amateur person probably was too close to their speakers, or other... Can I eliminate this before I burn it on CD??? HELP

YaleDog (ps. I am quite new at "editing" myself, I am a musician, ergo, I always PLAY music and let others do the recording stuff. )

THANK YOU !

I would try (instructions for AP -- it should work similarly for AII, I
think the menus and commands will be the same.) I don't remember whether
the Amadeuses (Amadei) read au file; I will leave that as an exercise
for the reader.
1) Select a portion of the signal where one has a "nice" feedback
signal and use analyze>spectrum
2) From the result, you should be able to see what the dominant
frequency range is.
3) Go to denoising>suppress frequency band and use the values from 2.
4) Hope

If the frequency of the feedback seems to change across the recording,
do the above on appropriate sections.
