Editing out "sizzling S's" artifacts??

Post by rhubear »

I'm using AP 1.1.1.

I'm working in a native AP file and have "sizzling S's" artifacts which I really want to edit out of the sound file.

(I've had good results with the denoiser when trying to get rid of background hiss from audio cassettes etc).

I've taken a look at the manual, it talks about using Effects/Interpolate. However when I've highlighted the mentioned artifacts, "Interpolate" is greyed out as a menu item.

How do I correctly use Interpolate? Are there any AudioUnit or VST effects that I need to edit the S's??

Thanks!

Why don't you try a de-esser plug in like Spitfish?

It is free.

Thanks for that tip.... so I'm looking for a de-esser....

I tried installing the AUnits that you pointed me to. They didn't install properly (AU didn't appear in AP, VST appeared but don't run).

I need universal binaries as I'm running an intel MacBook Pro here. Maybe these aren't universal??

I'll look around for other AU de-essers......

Oops, you're right. It seems I have never de-essed since the Intel switch.
http://www.kvraudio.com has lots of info and plug-ins.

Good luck searching

If desperate, couldn't you run as ppc in rosetta?

good idea --- I tried that after your comment. I ticked the "run in rosetta" option in the AP info screen. Amadeus started OK, but plugins still didn't like to run...... Was I doing this correct?

I can't find any universal de-esser which is free; so I'm just about to bite the bullet and buy one of the lower costing commercial de-essers.

These commercial jobbies need things like an iLok. Does Amadeus support the use of an iLok??

I'm not adverse to plunging down that route, as I forsee using Pro Tools later where I think you need an iLok for plugins.....
