Key shortcuts

Post by Martin Hairer »

People tend to ask me over and over again questions about key shortcuts, so here is an exhaustive list of those that can be used in Amadeus Pro.

Note also, that key shortcuts for menu items can be changed in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" section of the "Keyboard and Mouse" system preference panel.

space bar: Starts / Pauses / Resumes playback
shift-space bar: Plays the currently selected track only
tabulation: Starts playback from beginning / Stops playback and rewinds to beginning
option 1-4: Stores the current zoom level into the corresponding register
1-4: Sets the zoom level to the value stored in the corresponding register
m: Creates a marker at the insertion point
r: Repairs the selection (select only a very short piece)
p: Creates a marker at the playback head
down arrow: Plays back half an octave lower
up arrow: Plays back half an octave higher
left arrow: Places the insertion point at the left end of the selection. If nothing is selected, moves the insertion point to the left by one tick of the timescale.
right arrow: Places the insertion point at the right end of the selection. If nothing is selected, moves the insertion point to the right by one tick of the timescale.
[: Places the insertion point at the left end of the selection. If nothing is selected, moves the insertion point to the left by one pixel.
]: Places the insertion point at the right end of the selection. If nothing is selected, moves the insertion point to the right by one pixel.
command-left arrow: Extends the selection to the previous marker
command-right arrow: Extends the selection to the next marker
option-left arrow: Moves the insertion point to the next marker
option-right arrow: Moves the insertion point to the previous marker
a: Extends the selection by one pixel to the left
s: Shrinks the selection by one pixel at the left
d: Shrinks the selection by one pixel at the right
f: Extends the selection by one pixel to the right
home: Jumps to the beginning of the sound
end: Jumps to the end of the sound
+/-: Zoom in/out
=: Zoom in
e: Previews an edit (plays back a portion around the selected portion, with this portion omitted).

Note quite key shortcuts, but somehow related:

Scrollwheel: Can be used to zoom in/out or (horizontal scroll wheel, or shift-scroll wheel) to navigate through the document
command-click: Creates a marker at the location that is clicked

Key shortcuts that can be used in the Repair center window:

r: Repairs the current selection (also works without the repair centre open)
shift-r: Repairs the current selection and finds the next crack
t: Repairs the top channel of the current selection
shift-t: Repairs the top channel of the current selection and finds the next crack
b: Repairs the bottom channel of the current selection
shift-b: Repairs the bottom channel of the current selection and finds the next crack
o: Preview original sound
p: Preview repaired sound
n: Finds the next crack
z: Undoes the last action
shift-z: Redoes the last action
