Distortion when I bounce tracks together

Simple question. I have two tracks without distortion (though their levels each go to 100%). How can I avoid sonic distortion when I bounce them together into a new combined track?

Just lower their amplitude before bouncing. You can actually even do that after bouncing without introducing distortion since Amadeus does handle sample values outside the [-1,1] range (but if you don't lower the amplitude below 1 before saving it to disk this will create distortion for the vast majority of file formats).
