"Before I get bashed on, I am aware of the fact that there is a group of users that would like to see back the ability of separately editing the left and right channel of a stereo track... it will definitely be back in one of the next revisions. It's just that due to the way the internals work it is much less trivial than one may think."

Thanks, Martin, just a little poke to see if you were listening. My own experience has been that any design which makes things simpler for the user is usually a hell of a lot more complex than it has any right to be.

Amazing isn't it how it always go the 'wrong' way. At least on MacOS
X things are already so much easier for the developers than they used
to be on OS 9. Adding something like a customizable toolbar would
have required months of programming back in the days... That's one of
the reasons why I stay far away from Windows ;-)

Can I get my money back?

Hard to deny that at $40.00 there is good value for the money.
Maybe with a good manual it would also be a good value at $50.00.
Sorry, but I think you underestimate the amount of effort it would
take to make a manual that pleased even 80% of the people on this
list.

There are people who come to Amadeus wihtout really even any idea of
what digital audio is, no background, no nothing. Those people need a
tutorial on the basics, and they don't want to do any homework. They
will be dissatisfied with a manual that assumes any background at all
in its readers because they don't need only to learn about the
software, they also need to learn what the software is for, what
digital audio processing and and cannot do, etc.

Then there are people with a good background who just get frustrated
at the lack of a detailed reference on, for example, keyboard
shortcuts. It would be easy enough to build a manual to please just
those people, but I'm not sure it's even a majority, much less an
overwhelming majority.

Somewhere in between would be a complete reference with also a few
tutorials for beginners who have no feel for processing audio. That
would be a nice resource to have, but
a) It takes (especially the tutorial part takes) quite a bit of
effort, probably above 1/4 the effort that has gone into the
software, and
b) It would still not please everyone who wants a manual different
from today's.

Having spent 20 years writing and compiling technical and user documentation for the San Francisco 911 dispatch system, some of it using a Mac SE-30, I don't underestimate anything of the sort. "Even 80%"??? If you could get 51% you would be a hero.

I've been there, I've done it, and now I'm thankfully retired, and intend to stay that way!
