Probably a good move. Delay is not nice, but better than constant kitchen converter messages. Gerard Is there any way to stifle these people? Doesn't one have to be a registered member of the group to post messages? I have now added a setting that allows me to moderate new topics. This will unfortun...

Best Effect to Use: Transistor Radio? Telephone?
AUHiPass does the trick quite nicely for me. I set it at 1000 Hz and 12 dB resonance. A subtle phasing effect could add to the "radio" atmosphere. Maybe there is a speaker emulator plug in that can do this trick. Gerard Thanks for the suggestion, CD. I tried the AUHiPass filter to cut / at...

Then if i buy a line- out to usb cable i could connect that to the Mac and maybe that would produce a cleaner wave in Amadeus than using the Ion? To connect a line-out to usb, you would also need an analog to digital converter box. Those cost from tens to hundrds of dollars. But you already have on...

File Size Limits?
The limit may be in your disk's file system. For instance FAT 16 allows max 2GB blocks. Gerard bad news: Amadeus Pro will not let you *Save* this file because of "file size limitations". This made me sad. -- ______________________ _ Gerard Bik grafische vormgeving Van Aerssenstraat 263 258...

Amadeus keeps automatically opening
What you look for is not found in Amadeus preferences, it's a Finder issue. Select an mp4 video and look at the info (Command-I), there you can choose and set the standard program to open mp4 files. Whenever you want to edit a file in another than the default program, the quickest way is to drag the...

It is nevertheless convenient for people reading the threads by mail.

Fix difference in volumes of speakers on podcast
With my guests voice being almost too loud, is using "Amplify" at something like -80 the only way to reduce his voice? Not the only way. It is the quickest. in Amadeus. You might want to take a look at The Levelator. http://www.conversationsnetwork.org/levelator/ So what is The Levelator®...

Fix difference in volumes of speakers on podcast
i have an internet radio show and apparently the gain on my mic during an interview was lower than my guest. His voice is much louder than mine. Can I reduce his volume during the conversation without reducing mine? You'll have to do that "by hand", there's no way the software can figure ...

That would be my favourite workflow too. Gerard I wonder if he should extract the audio from his .mov file and work with that instead.Bob Buchholz -- ______________________ _ Gerard Bik grafische vormgeving Van Aerssenstraat 263 2582 JM Den Haag 070 3554081 Website: http://www.biknewz.nl IEDP gecert...

I feel the same :-) I feel certain Gerard intended to type Invert, not revert, phase. m. -- Michael Rees, composer &c. Gerard Bik expressed with much marked refinement of phraseology: Subtract = Revert Phase and then Add. -- ______________________ _ Gerard Bik grafische vormgeving Van Aerssenstr...

What I would experiment with, is subtracting the channels from eachother. Just try it on a relevant fragment and listen what the effect is. The idea is to take channel A, lower the volume to that of the bleed level and subtract it from channel B. Subtract = Revert Phase and then Add. Gerard -- _____...

How to take a bad recording and making it better?
Sorry for using jargon. Attenuate = take down the volume, make it less loud. In Amadeus: Effects > Amplify > 60% or something. -- ______________________ _ Gerard Bik grafische vormgeving Van Aerssenstraat 263 2582 JM Den Haag 070 3554081 Website: http://www.biknewz.nl IEDP gecertificeerd ___________...

The trick to partly remove noise is to copy your sample to a new file. Attenuate the new sample file to 50 or 70%., do Sample Noise on this. Then go back to your original file to suppress its noise. This time the attenuated sample will only partly remove the noise, but also cause less weirdness. Lik...
