Overdubbing

Depends a bit on your setup.  One Way: If you are monitoring via headphones at the MBox, you can use the "Record to Another Track" option (not looking at the menus right now, so it may be slightly different) - it's <CNTRL>+<COMMAND>+R.  You need to have the cursor positioned where you want...

normalize to maximum volume

Tried to lower those spikes by using Dynamic Processor after Normalize, but that makes it less loud again. Also Normalized first and then used the Dynamic Processor, but that made it less loud also. No. You need to use the Dynamic Processor to compress the range (i.e. lower the highs and expand the...

normalize to maximum volume

Sorry - was describing the Compression settings from memory, which are more for hardware controls.

The AU Dynamics Processor should give you a window similar to the attached image - these settings are not precisely what I said, but will give you a place to start from.

hope that helps.

normalize to maximum volume

Yes, if you want to smooth out a wide dynamic range, you should use the Dynamics Processor before you Normalize (though you might Normalize to begin, then use the Dynamics Processor, then Normalize to Master Level - depends upon what you are doing). A good general Dynamics Processor setting to get y...

normalize to maximum volume

The best way to Normalize without peaking is to choose the peak value option (Maximal Sample Value).  db or % are just two scales.  -0db is the peak, or 100%. I've never had good results using RMS - but basically you are setting the point for the average energy, without regard to clipping. If I'm re...

Clicks after pitching/tempo change

Well - I figured that Clicks is Clicks... And you could experiment with the free download before full purchase. Not familiar with Radius. They have some amazingly effective algorithms, though. hope that helps, - Jim -- sent from some phone On Jan 12, 2014, at 11:49 AM, jdb <forum2mail@hairersoft.com...

Clicks after pitching/tempo change

Depending upon your budget and needs, there is an exceptionally powerful audio repair tool which will work as a plug-in. Izotope RX. It's not cheap, but it's better than spending hours reviewing tracks. A lot of audiobook VO's use it to assist in declicking or removing extraneous mouth noises - http...

How to reopen temp files in Amadeus Pro after software crash

From another thread in the user forum, it would be: com.HairerSoft.AmadeusPro.plist in Library/Preferences.  You should make sure you have your serial number before doing this, as you may have to reenter that afterwards. hope that helps, - Jim Jim Edgar jimedgarvoices@gmail.com ( jimedgarvoices@gmai...

How to reopen temp files in Amadeus Pro after software crash

Can't address the crashing (but would at least try throwing out the prefs file and restarting). But as far as opening the temp file, you need to select "Import Raw Data" to open those. hope that helps, - Jim Jim Edgar jimedgarvoices@gmail.com ( jimedgarvoices@gmail.com ) - @jimedgarvoices ...

Skype Set Up for VO Direction While Recording

Three "levels": 1 - The simplest setup would be to use a smartphone or tablet to handle the skype connection, with an earbud so you can hear the feedback.  Added benefit is that you don't have to wear headphones during recording.  Google voice will also let you record _incoming_ calls so t...

Free alternatives for the Ipad?

WavePad is a good solution for your specific circumstances.  It is free in the iPad and iPhone app versions.

Only because there is no Amadeus Pro app. ;^)

Possibly, but I'm really just guessing.  Do you have the same results if you monitor directly out of the computer? Headphones Play Only in Right Ear :(

Are you recording stereo but only using a mono input?  I'm not familiar with that specific amplifier, but suspect that the "play through" software setting is separate from the issue you are having. Probably it's a setting on the pre amp.  What happens when you play the file back?  Do you h...

Effect to sound like a dj

The Audio Units "Dynamic Processor" is a good compressor.  EQ is just Equalization.  Normalization is also as described. You can "preview" all effects before you apply them.  It also makes a difference the order in which you apply them.  I would use Normalization last. You'll hav...

Effect to sound like a dj

Most radio/broadcast signals are compressed and eq'd. If you play with compression you can mimic it. You might want to normalize it to -2 to -4 db peak. Thats all doable wihin AP in software. You also can get a proximity effect by physically working the mic closely. That tends to reinforce the bass ...
