Exactly. That's much more likely to give satisfactory results.mattspringer wrote:...which I assume involves taking a cable that has two RCA plugs at one end and a stereo minijack at the other, and plugging it into the back of the receiver

Re: what file format for long term archiving?
There can be no guarantees about this - just think what things were like 30 years ago - but the safest formats would be the most common - WAV and Audio CD. AIFF is more specialized; you should never archive in a compressed format; and with all due respect to Martin, Amadeus format would be a poor ch...

Re: vinyl to digital: proper recording levels to minimize no
From your description the hum is in the headphone output circuitry (if it was a ground loop it would disappear when your ran the laptop on battery) and you are unlikely to be able to get rid of it. Does your hi-fi not have tape output RCA (phono) sockets? - this would be a better place to connect. I...

Zoom bug in 1.5.3 on G4
I updated to 1.5.3 on a 1.25GHz PPC G4 running 10.4.11. Zoom will not work (either direction) bringing up the error:
*** -[NSScrollView conrtPointFromBase:] selector not recognized [self = 0x7ec7160]
Reverted to 1.5.2 - all OK. 1.5.3 on an Intel iMac works OK.

Re: questions about markers
If your marker starts with a number, that will be incremented for the next marker: any text will be repeated. The contents of a new marker are highlighted so will be deleted and replaced as soon as you start typing something new.misnoma wrote: 3) why are my new markers all named the same as my previous marker.

You may have damaged the file referenced in the crash report, which is within the application itself. You should delete the application and download it afresh:

As far as I know Amadeus Pro does not handle swf (Flash) files.

If you stick to a reasonably high bitrate - minimum 192kb/s for speech or 256kb/s for music (stereo assumed) - the degradation in quality will be pretty slight and is unlikely to bother most people. You probably might as well go for the highest available - 320kb/s in Amadeus - as this still produces...

I believe this interface requires a driver: you could check that you have the most up-to-date one. Another test you could try is to open the Quicktime X player and choose New Audio Recording from the File menu. See if you can select your interface using the small down-arrow on the right. If you can'...

can correctly convert from RIAA (the microgroove standard) - including at the wrong speed - to a specified 78rpm EQ. See page 11 of the manual. It's free.
