Re: AP m4a Files Now Not Accepted by Apple Music

Thank you! That was the problem. Somehow, the Settings for Saving As .m4a had become set to "Uncompressed" instead of "MPEG-4 AAC". When I corrected this, all was well again. I have no idea how that change happened, but I'm very glad to finally have it working again. Your assista...

AP m4a Files Now Not Accepted by Apple Music

MY QUESTION: HOW DO I GET M4A FILES FROM AP TO WORK WITH APPLE MUSIC? Something has changed somewhere. Recordings saved as m4a files from AP 2.8.13 on an M1 Mac Mini running Ventura 13.6.1 aren't recognized by Apple Music 1.3.6.14. This never used to be an issue. If I make a recording using AP and d...

Feature Request: Markers Hard-Linked to the Audio

Related Issue No. 1: Example: I used AP to digitize an LP with 22 tracks, carefully placing a marker for each track during the recording. This worked fine. If, however, I now attempt to either add or delete some silence at the beginning of the recording, the audio waveform shifts right or left acco...

Re: Multi-Disc LP Sets to iTunes?

Actually, this issue is NOT resolved after all. There is still a problem, namely: When using AP’s “File->Export to iTunes Library” function, the metadata in the “Title” field (“Disc 1”, “Disc 2”, etc.) is maintained and passed along to iTunes, which displays it correctly. This is good. Unfortunately...

Re: Multi-Disc LP Sets to iTunes?

Never mind, but thanks anyway - I finally figured it out for myself. The answer: With a separate AP recording for each LP disc, put "Disc 1" etc in the "Metadata->Title" field and make the rest of the metadata consistent across all discs/recordings. When using AP's "Export t...

Multi-Disc LP Sets to iTunes?

I have previously ripped a number of multi-disc CD sets to iTunes, and the result in iTunes is a single album entry with metadata in the form Disc 1: Track 1, Track 2...etc; Disc 2: Track 1, Track 2...etc. So far, when digitizing LP sets with AP, I have been unable to replicate this. The Disc Number...

I came across a presentation about all of this which might be of interest. It's in the form of a downloadable PowerPoint presentation from a company in the UK, and it outlines a detailed approach to the problems of identifying and correcting wow and flutter. I thought it was well done. Here's the li...

If I were to try it, I would probably consider doing it semi-manully. Record the thing, pick sections where the the wow is clearly heard and then interpolate between the sections. That approach would certainly work fine for me. I don't have a lot of records with serious wow problems, so it wouldn't...

Good Morning (it is here, anyway), Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. I suspected that the solution was probably to modify the hole and the position of the record, as you suggest. However, since my father, also a record collector, was doing this from time to time in the 1950's, I was kind of ...

Vinyl LPs - Wavering Pitch

Hello Again, I have a late 50's classical LP that has noticeable (but not terrible) pitch wavering on sustained notes. I'm currently guessing that this is probably the result of an off-center hole. The turntable's tracking force and anti-skate have been carefully adjusted, the LP is flat (no obvious...

UPDATE

Hi Martin, Here's an update: 1. LP/78 Preview : I have played with the Preview function of the LP/78 Equalizer some more this morning, and have discovered that there is a much simpler distinction between it and the Preview in other effects than what I described yesterday afternoon. That is, the Prev...

Hi Martin, Thanks for the fast reply. First, with all of the other effects I've used, Preview seems to work fine. I have been playing some more with the LP/78 Equalizer, and have discovered an unexpected behavior that is repeatable using different files, after restarting the app, and after restartin...

Previews of Presets in the LP/78rpm Equalizer Not Working

Hi Martin,

I'm still running Mac OS 10.4.11 on a Mac Pro (I'm updating soon). Would this have an effect on the functioning of the preset previews?

If not, do you have any suggestions for troubleshooting the problem?

Thanks,

-Chris

Hello Everyone (as Karl Haas used to say), Again, many thanks to all of you for your very helpful comments, suggestions, and insights. My take-away from this discussion is that my assumptions in likening music editing to image editing did not include one extremely important distinction: music has ha...
