I’m not hearing hiss on your sample. I’m hearing vinyl clicks/crackles + what sounds to me like a rattling cartridge cleaning brush. If you have some sort of cleaning/damping brush attached to your phono cartridge/stylus, remove it (or if removal is not an option, raise it and lock it tight so it wo...

(Raises hand) I can explain! One phrase: D.C. Offset. An imperfection in your A to D converter such that the zero point is shifted (offset) by a fixed amount (hence equivalent to a fixed direct current signal). In some cases, it might drift with temperature over time. If it is small enough, it may n...

Re: Is there a function to eliminate low-pitched hum?

I recorded an album with 6 tracks. Got the tracks separated and burned them to CD, then ripped CD into iTunes. There's a low pitched hum between tracks. I wanted to keep the album sound between songs for authenticity, but there's this darn hum. I used denoiser and request sample but didn't see a no...

Greetings, I’m a “frisking” fellow user, not a representative of HairerSoft, so keep that in mind if you dislike my response. Do you have a frisking version number for your Amadeus (i assume Pro) software? I ask because i’m still using version 1.5.4, having so far chosen not to upgrade to version 2 ...

Re: How (or can) you drag the phayback head?

OK, just out of curiosity: How many people have spliced tape (other than as an historical excercise)? Raise your hands. Hand raised. From circa 1980, most recently a couple of years ago (re-splicing radio station archive reels such that all the sticky shed tape was on one reel [for baking] and the ...

Re: recording from analogue cassettes

I am using an ION Tape 2 PC[…] I plug into the USB on my Mac and use the 'Audio CODEC' facility[…] These voices were made using a cheap hand held portable device that took standard cassettes, which is what I am playing in real time to make the transcription. […] Obviously these are mono tracks. Act...

Re: Repair center -- repair all, please!

As I recall, there was a "repair all" function in the Repair Center under Amadeus II. I can't find this in AP (1.5.4) and I expect it was eliminated because you believe it's better to have the user apply some judgement before actually accepting a repair. However, if I set the threshold ri...

Martin Hairer just saved my butt! I uploaded the 3.9GB file to him (at his request) and he waved his magic wand over it ... sent me back a 1.2GB .aiff (the size that I had originally anticipated) and it friggin' worked!!!!! The best part is that the pianist who commissioned the job never even got w...

Re: A Proposal for CD Writing Improvements in Amadeus Pro

A couple of points which occur to me to consider: * To include a marker color that would be ignored at the Burn CD stage, to enable (marker-denoted) editing that would not interfere with track indexing. * To enable a Capture Sequence function for Shuffle mode, perhaps as a text file. This would all...

Re: A Proposal for CD Writing Improvements in Amadeus Pro

For the record, Toast mandates an inalterable pre-gap of 2.0 sec before Track 1. It will not burn a CD with any setting other than 2 before Track 1. --Phil M. A Proposal for CD Writing Improvements in Amadeus Pro Introduction This very long post is a proposal for improving the way Amadeus Pro (hereinafter AP) creates audio CDs, both in terms of available features and the user interface. I’ve given this thought over the last several years, and on and off ...

A Proposal for CD Writing Improvements in Amadeus Pro

The actual proposal will be in the post following this one. It may take me between a few minutes and maybe an hour or longer to get the formatting working properly. It is a long, detailed post. I have been formally working on this proposal on and off for over a year, and thinking about it for severa...

my powerpc/10.5 is not able to run it
I just downloaded it and got the Universal Prohibited symbol on the icon. Did a Get Info, and it shows Application (Intel), not Application (Universal).
