Hmm.. I've finally learned something after rereading the manual yet again. I guess I misunderstood the purpose of the 'Filter files' facility; now I realize that, while it doesn't allow for changing all the files except mp3s, it does allow changing only specific types of files. It's better than noth...

Thanks Sarah, no I don't have the manual here, but that's okay, I'm finding that there aren't that many mp3s in these long lists of songs, so I'm just moving them out while I do the batch routine

Seems to me it could only be in the 'Resulting Format' pull down menu. That has a list of all the various formats you can change files to, and at the top it has 'Same as Original'. But that one leaves ALL the files as original. It doesn't offer a way of changing the ones that aren't mp3 but leaving ...

Thanks for your reply Sarah. I looked for a setting to do just that but couldn't find one. Where on the batch file window will I find it?

Cheers, Dave.

mps files in batch process

Sorry if this is a silly question folks (I was born before computers were invented so I'm not very tech minded). When converting a large number of mixed files to mp3s, if there are a few that are already in mp3 format, do they get re-processed and possibly loose more of their quality, or does the pr...

Great, thanks a lot Martin, that certainly fixes the Comments field which was my big concern.

The %nil doesn't work in the Artist and Track fields but that's okay as I can replace the text in those with a space character.

Cheers, Dave.

I see plenty of people reading my post, but nobody has anything to say on the subject. Surely someone at some time has tried to change the Comments field in the Metadata of a bunch of sound files, using the Batch facility? Has no-one ever wanted to do this? Deleting, or changing, the text in the Com...

Batch dumping of text from Comments field in Metadata

Surely someone has come across this problem before?

I need to clear unwanted meaningless text from the Comments and other fields of Metadata of several hundred sound files. How can I instruct the Batch facility to delete whatever may be in those fields?

Cheers, Dave.

I guess that's a tough one then, eh Martin?

Can anyone suggest a workaround?

A pleasure Martin. I'm afraid I have yet another question to pester you with though: Many of my files have stuff in some metadata fields that I'd rather delete, such as irrelevant Artist description or a random Track number. In most cases, when batch processing, I can replace the unwanted text with ...

Not trying to be over critical, but I've found another bug in the above facility. When processing a bunch of files, the naming mechanism sometimes gets ahead of the rest of the procedure and uses the name of the next file in the queue. I can live with it. I just drop the files in one by one so they ...

Thanks a lot for your response Martin, and thanks for the updated version of 'Pro. I still haven't figured it out though  I obviously need to adjust the expression in some way but I'm not smart enough to figure out how. The file I'm testing it on is called: 11 Under fire.mp3 and it's folder is...

Batch insertion of metadata - modified file name as Title

Having recently acquired a huge collection of old radio broadcasts, and wishing to edit them all with metadata, I've upgraded from Lite to Pro so as to use the Batch processing facility. I can understand how to insert each file name into the Metadata Title field, but I'd be even happier if I could d...

So, doesn't anyone have any suggestions about why Amadeus Lite refuses to make any sound during "play back"?
