How to equalise loudness across a number of voice recordings

When I was creating CDs, I used to use an app, whose name escapes me at present, that would calculate the average frequency -weighted power for each item. I would then create an Excel file for each file with the maximum signal and the average frequency weighted power and normalize everything to the ...

old versions and crashing

My wife wants to edit some simple sound things for an on-line course. With her "talent" for hitting random keys, I tried to put her on an old computer with a version 1.5.x on it. It crashes and burns apparently because it can not connect to the update server. I can work around it by discon...

Question about fadings

I don't know whether you got any response to this question. The way I would do it is fade song one.  I would then load song two into a different set of tracks and slide it relative the the first set of tracks. Then flatten it and go. You could use the envelope command insead of the fade command if ...

Analysis of pitches

You can certainly change what you see on a sine wave by changing the windowing function -- whether it will really help in the case of reql music with real instrumentalists and singers, I have my doubts. Chuck Is there a way to use the Spectrum function, which clusters many frequencies around each pr...

Actually, if you put the hairline at the frequency it gives the frequency and the note name based on 440 A. Chuck On 6/9/18 3:01 PM, bdeschenes wrote: Yes, but spectrum gives the frequencies, but not the notes name. Bruno ------------------------ -------------------- Bruno Deschenes bruno@musis.ca

78 RPM recorded @45 RPM restoring w/Speed-Pitch Change

Of course the equalization curves are different and will also be shifted as the frequencies are different. Newbie needing help with editing volume

You will basically create an envelope (at least that is what is called on my older version of Amadeus) and apply it to your sound. With envelope you can't amplify anything so you will need the loudest section that you want at the maximum volume before you start. Chuck On 9/17/17 7:52 AM, janetbxyz w...

burning a usable CD

Try burning a data CD with an mp3 file -- take to car -- does it work? (question of whether car reads data CD).) Did the original disk have track separation? If so, getting absolutely smooth transition from one to the next isn't going to happen (at least without work). It isn't going to happen from ...

Why not burn it in Finder? An mp3 on a CD is just a data disk. Maintain LP tracks that blend together..

Not sure of exactly what you are trying to do -- splitting tracks using Amadeus means that you have to decide what "zero" sound is. Noise will affect that. Are you trying to reassemble with breaks between the tracks? If so I would edit each track and fade each track in and out, a half seco...

That's unfortunate, I need to burn the cd to play a tone slower.

Do you know of any programmes which will do this to tracks I have ripped from audio cassette?

I have been searching but have had no success.

Question re burning a CD

One comment -- you may not really want to normalize all tracks, depending on what is in them. for example, if one track has a very short loud section, and another track is all pretty much at the same volume, then listening to the constant volume section will feel like you are really being slammed. I...

Equalize Volume Across Many Tracks

I would look at normalizing to RMS average -- not perfect but I would expect it to be pretty good as the music is probably somewhat similar in dynamic range distribution (I had trouble doing something with Vivaldi, which has little range with Mozart where some sections were quite loud and others qui...
