As Martin says, it's a file type limitation (one that comes from both WAVE and AIFF being based on RIFF ...) However, before choosing to save a recording as CAF in Amadeus Pro, only do so if you're dealing with 16-bit recordings. Amadeus saves 24-bit recordings as 16-bit when you choose CAF, even wh...

still not fixed as of v2.1

Batch function ignores comments, at least for AIFF.

Thanks, I hadn't seen the update.

New problem however.

The new files it creates do not preserve the sample rate when Apple Lossless is selected. The original is 192kHz and the resulting individual tracks after the Split function are all 48kHz.

Saving/exporting hi res to Apple Lossless downsamples to 48k

The sample size doesn't appear to be hurt. Stays as 24-bit. Only the sample rate gets changed from whatever it was (96 or 192kHz, for example) down to 48kHz. So I'm currently keeping everything as FLAC with Amadeus and converting to Apple Lossless elsewhere, later, (with XLD) in order to have hi res...

Re: ALAC equivalence of "save as" formats?

Well, see, there is no "Apple Lossless" entry in the save as menu. That's because "Apple Lossless" is not a file format.... Regards, Martin treefrog, What Martin [almost] said is that it helps to think like an engineer here and possess prior knowledge. Or pretend you're one like...
