..as a followup - It works fine on my Mac Mini, but not on my 2009 Mac Pro or two Aluminium MacBooks I tested.

Does Apple have a hardware bug on the newer machines?

I'm having trouble transferring audio from DAT at 48kHz to my new Mac Pro. The Apple audio input changes back to 44.1kHz regardless of what I set it to - and therefore, the audio is not correct.
