I'm using amadeus to do spectrum analyses on many different sounds
so I can see the makeup of the sounds by harmonic. I'm almost done,
but I have one question: what are the units on the y-axis of the
spectrum analysis graph? (I refer to the analyse -> spectrum graph)

If you use a linear scale, "1" corresponds to a pure sine wave of
maximal intensity. If you use a logarithmic scale, it shows decibels,
with "0 dB" corresponding to a pure sine wave of maximal intensity.
Regards,

Martin

Just to clarify, with the linear scale, the intensity would be
measured in energy per area - that is, the standard units of joules
per metre squared?

A multiple of that, yes. There is no physical unit of course, since
this would depend on the volume of your loudspeaker and the distance
from the loudspeaker at which you perform the measurement, which are
both unknown to the program... Regards,

Martin
