Clicks after pitch change
On recording of an actor playing Santa Claus I dropped the pitch to give Santa a deeper voice. It worked great, but now there are random clicks in the background. Can't seem to isolate them to remove them. Any suggestions, or is it unavoidable?

I've attempted two recent jobs using the "Change Pitch and Speed" option this weeks and have experienced the same challenge. Tried it on two different Macs using Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and AP 2.1 (1523). Ultimately had to chop the file into sections and tweak in small bits.

I have successfully used pitch change on a piece of music with
reasonable results. However if you want to get an idea of the sort of
artifacts one might get, just do a time or pitch change on a constant
note, say 30 seconds long. Possibly with different parameters I might
have gotten better results.
I am certain there are better algorithms, but they are most likely
proprietary and thus not available to those of us on limited budgets.

In the end I had to take the pitch change off, the were just enough clicks for listeners to say "what are those clicks"? Shame, it made Santa sound great.

I imagine with music it might not be such a problem, if the piece has enough to cover clicks (they're not that loud). However, with speech there's not a lot to cover them.
Key phrase in your post "those of us on limited budgets." I imagine that that is probably true. I hear reduced pitch recordings on BBC radio plays all the time, but I'm sure with Pro-tools (standard BBC kit) clicks are not a problem.
No worries, still love Amadeus Pro for all that it does for me.

One of the reason I chimed in was that I had used it successfully and often with previous versions and this was the first time I had the "click" issue.

It might be interesting to know what version worked -- errors could crop
up in versions.

Using 1.5.5 with Mountain Lion I used pitch change with no problem.

That's the version that gave me a fair number of artifacts on a constant
tone (but worked satisfactorily on music).
