distortion from mp3 encloder

Post by CDJonah_alt »

Simple answer -- don't normalize using rms values -- with your settings,
that will distort any time the difference between the rms value and the
peak value is greater than -3 (-5) dB. The first file I pulled up had a
maximum of -11 dB and an rms value of -21 dB -- gonna distort.

First, a quick line to introduce myself. My name is Ray.

I'm a totally blind Mac user and thus, use Voice Over to obtain output
from my Mac book Pro running Lion.

I have noticed that, ever since I installed Lion on my machine, and
every time I normalize a file to -3 or -5DB with the RMS values
checked, the file that results is very distorted if it's an mp3 file
but not with .4ma or .wav or any other sort. Has anybody else noticed
this?
